Hike up MT Helena |
  |
|
This is our hike up to the top of Mt Helena. Aubrey, Brandon, Aren, and I took Ridge
to the top. Brandon and I took a steep trail straight to the top, while Aubrey and
Aren guided Ridge along a longer yet easier trail. Notice the views overlooking the
city. The top is about 1400 feet above. The hike is about 1.5 miles to the top.

Brandon hiking up Mt Helena with me. He and I beat the other three to the top. It was a short, but steep
trail. We did have to stop and rest quite a bit. |
Aren is descending down the mountain. At first, Aren does enjoy the hike; but, she doesn't
care too much by the time we descend. It is quite a tiring hike. |
Ridge and Brandon climbing down the trail. Ridge doesn't want to do this again, he said. He may
not return next year: he was bored most of the time. |
We are taking it easy and resting at the top. There were quite a number of people this day. It is
usually when there is a nice sunny, yet cool, day. |
This is really an incredible view overlooking the city and the valley. |
From what I've been told, Mt Helena was once a volcano. As a result, it does have a lower peak.
There are radio antennae on that peak. |
We usually don't get to hike much. We have yet to go camping. |
There are many trees along the trails up to the top. Some are thick enough to block a lot of the
sun and obscure your location. |
One thing about the views up here in Montana: it is very beautiful no matter the season. |
